Author Guidelines

RATE Issues permanently welcomes submissions from authors. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they are accepted or rejected.

Submitted articles are always checked for plagiarism and AI generated content. Routinely, two external reviewers are asked to blindly evaluate submitted articles (without knowing the author's identity) and suggest improvements.

There is an estimated five weeks' waiting time until publication; the two annual issues, formerly entitled Summer and Winter are now simply labelled as volume 1 and 2, respectively.
Articles should follow the MLA format and include:

  • a detailed title
  • an abstract of 70-150 words
  • a list of 5-7 keywords
  • a bibliography (where applicable)
  • biodata (50-100 words on your professional achievements to date)
  • a photograph of the author and other illustrations inserted directly into the document
  • articles should contain between 1500 and 8000 words.

Do NOT include author's name and affiliation in the article text, as this will be sent to our reviewers, who need to perform blind review.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.
