Chick Lit’s Genesis. Background to the Advent of Commercial Literature for Women

In this article, we are going to examine chick lit from different angles, from its hatching till it became a cultural phenomenon, part of the puzzle called consumerist society, in which we all live in the present moment. Literature of consumption mirrors the present society, the sorrows and preoccupations of the middle classes. Literature of consumption has known a huge success since the role of the press and of the publishing houses grew in importance permitting the industrial development of writing.
