Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes of plagiarism in academic writing
among postgraduate ELT students. To achieve this purpose, a descriptive survey design was used. The study involved the gathering of data through Attitudes towards Plagiarism (ATP) questionnaire from thirty postgraduate students. Convenience sampling technique was used to select the participants of the study. Descriptive statistics were computed to analyze the collected data. The results of the study reveal that ELT postgraduate students had moderate positive attitudes towards plagiarism. The result also showed that the participants of this study had moderate negative attitude and moderate subjective norms towards plagiarism. Overall, this result suggested that ELT postgraduate students’ attitude towards plagiarism was moderate. In other words, students had moderate attitudes towards the three attitudinal factors: positive attitude, negative attitude and subjective norms.
